Notes

The AD prefix is the fourth serial number block in the Glock 17 Gen1 production sequence, following the AC prefix. Like all early G17 prefixes, it spans serial numbers 000 through 999 and was produced at the Glock factory in Deutsch-Wagram, Austria. AD-prefix pistols were proofed at the Vienna Proof House and carry Austrian proof marks on the barrel and slide. Like the AC prefix, all known AD-prefix barrels carry the March 1984 proof code, the same lot that began partway through the AB prefix. AD-prefix guns were manufactured in both duotone (greenish slide over light barrel) and standard Dark Gray Phosphate (Parkerized) finishes. Unlike earlier prefixes, AD shows a clear move away from the duotone finish. Duotone examples cluster in the lower serial numbers, and guns in the upper range appear only in the standard dark finish, which suggests Glock stopped making the duotone version during AD production.
